How to Prepare for Long Arm Quilting

  1. Trim all threads on the front and back of the quilt top.
  2. Mark the top of the quilt with a safety pin.
  3. Provide backing that is 6 – 8 “  longer and wider than the quilt top
  4. All seams and stitches must be secure and pressed flat
  5. The top and back of the quilt must be square.
  6. Wavy borders must be corrected.
  7. Carefully press the quilt top and back
  8. Press the backing seam open using a ½” seam allowance.
  9. If you want trim of any sort added on your quilt, those items must be added after quilting.
  10. Don’t baste layers together.
